UROLOGY TREATMENT

LASER URSL

Laser URSL is a minimally invasive procedure that uses a ureteroscope and laser to fragment stones located in the ureter.

LASER URSL
Ureteroscopic laser stone treatment allows the surgeon to directly visualize and treat ureteric stones through the natural urinary passage. A fine laser fibre breaks the stone into smaller fragments or dust, which can then be removed or passed naturally.
Ureteric colic
Flank or abdominal pain
Blood in urine
Nausea and vomiting
Pain during urination
Urinary infection
Urinary obstruction
Dehydration
Dietary Factors
Metabolic Abnormalities
Previous stone disease can contribute.
Ultrasound
CT scan
X-ray
Urine examination and blood tests
A ureteroscope is passed through the urethra and bladder into the ureter.
Laser energy fragments the stone.
Fragments may be extracted with a basket, and a temporary stent may be placed if required.
Most patients can gradually return to normal activities after recovery from anaesthesia.
Temporary urinary frequency, discomfort or blood in urine may occur.
No external incision
Direct visualization of the stone
Precise laser fragmentation
Effective for many ureteric stones
Relatively short recovery
